On March 20, 2015 a total solar eclipse takes place on Svalbard. The totality zone will also reach the North pole and this is the same day that the Sun rises after 6 months of winter. This will become a celestial event of exceptional spectacularity, beauty and rarity. At the same time it will be the most accessible total eclipse in several years. On the mainland in Norway more than 90 % of the sun will be hidden by the Moon.
